Nancy Ruiz Uribe

I joined the Bennett lab in June 2023 as a research fellow. I received my PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University in May 2023. During my graduate studies, I studied the molecular mechanisms leading to vascular dysfunction and capillary stalling in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease. I used a combination of in vivo multiphoton imaging and RNA sequencing of cerebral microvessels to understand the role of oxidative stress pathways in reduced blood flow and vascular inflammation in these mice. In my current research, I’m interested in exploring and characterizing how the vasculature facilitates tau aggregation and spreading in human tissue and mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease.
